Game of Thrones Free riders have read enough of the long-awaited sixth book, as critics are cocky about pre-released samples.
George RR Martin was quite generous with sample chapters from Winds of Winter, his long-awaited sixth book in the series, which inspired HBO’s Game of Thrones. No more.
On Monday Martin commented his blog about the upcoming Targaryen story Fire & Blood, which will be released in November. One fan had asked for more example chapters from Winds of Winter, and Martin responded surprisingly. But not as the fan hoped for.
“I do not know,” wrote the author. “I think I’ve probably already published too many sample chapters and what, there are probably more than a hundred pages.”
Martin went on to say that he always enjoyed publishing sample chapters and reading them at congresses. But he says he was exploited for this practice when reviews criticize his new books as “old, retreaded” material because parts of it were shared.
“I oppose this idea,” he wrote, acknowledging that it was proposed by his publisher.
